The County of Huron thanks the Public Works Team during National Public Works Week

Huron County, Ontario –The County of Huron expresses its gratitude to the dedicated individuals of the Public Works department during National Public Works Week, being held this year from May 19 to 25. ​ This annual event serves as an opportunity to educate and inform the community about the essential role that Public Works plays in the daily lives of Huron County residents. ​

Comprised of a diverse team of professionals, including supervisory and administrative staff, engineers, technologists, construction and maintenance specialists, and more, the County of Huron’s Public Works department works tirelessly year-round to ensure the community remains open for business. ​

Huron County Warden, Glen McNeil acknowledges the exceptional efforts of the Public Works Team stating, “Huron’s Public Works Team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of our community. ​ Their hard work and dedication are truly commendable.” ​

Aligned with the 2024 National Public Works Week theme of “Advancing Quality of Life for All,” the Huron County Public Works Department manages a significant transportation infrastructure. ​ This includes overseeing 775 km of paved roads and associated storm sewers, 98 bridges, and 374 culvert structures. ​ These vital components ensure the safety and accessibility of the community.

In addition to their infrastructure responsibilities, the Public Works team actively engages in community projects. ​ They contribute to the improvement of County Forest Tracts, collaborate with community service groups, and even assist in active transportation initiatives. ​Their community-minded approach demonstrates their commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Huron County residents. ​
