Temporary Full-time Homelessness Programs Coordinator to Join The Team!

*Approximately 6 month in length*

Position Summary:

The Homelessness Programs Coordinator will assist with the administration of homelessness programs specific to the County of Huron.  Working closely with the Homelessness Programs Supervisor and community service providers to develop and continuously improve the coordinated access system for individuals and households to access housing and homelessness resources.  The Homelessness Programs Coordinator will assist with the ongoing implementation, maintenance, data collection and analysis of the County’s by-name list through coordinated access.  This position will also assist in the development and data reporting for the County’s homelessness enumeration, and oversee the implementation of the enumeration to meet legislated requirements.  This position will assist with the implementation of the recommendations within the County’s Long-Term Affordable Housing and Homelessness Plan.

Role and Responsibilities:

Development, Implementation and Ongoing Supports:

  • Assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the homelessness coordinated access system, by-name list and homeless enumeration in Huron County.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and participate in meetings and calls to monitor and remove barriers to shelter, homeless prevention and diversion resources on behalf of the coordinated access system.
  • Document the performance and challenges of the coordinated access system, the by-name list and homeless enumeration, and assist with identifying best practices for the programs.
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining user role access for homelessness programs.
  • Administer the Service Agreement between community partners participating in coordinated access, the by-name list and homeless enumeration.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures, service agreements, client consent forms, etc.
  • Assist in the development of statistical data base and reports, ensure software licensing and data sharing agreements are updated and adhered to at all times, utilize and develop reports to meet the reporting and data sharing requirements of stakeholders.
  • Maintain privacy information in accordance with all relevant legislation.
  • Preparation of reporting requirements as per Ministry requirements, and entry into the Transfer Payment Ontario platform.
  • Assist Housing Services Manager and Homelessness Programs Supervisor with collection and reporting of data for the homelessness programs funding including the Social Services Relief Fund, Homelessness Prevention Program, Reaching Home, etc.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Working with community partners and stakeholders, the Homelessness Programs Coordinator will share information, foster dialogue, develop relationships, use a positive attitude and shared successes.
  • Assist in the facilitation of community forums and training sessions.
  • Be comfortable adapting to and leading change.
  • Provide educational and information resources to staff, community partners and the public regarding the homelessness programs.
  • Work closely with homelessness-serving agencies in data compilation, data cleaning, data collection and reporting.

Project Management:

  • Manage projects pertaining to the implementation of the coordinated access system, by-name list and homeless enumeration.
  • Assist in the coordination of the community partners, staff and volunteers in the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting of homelessness enumeration in the County.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the homeless enumeration in Huron County, including statistical reporting, to meet legislated requirements.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures for planning and evaluation of the coordinated access system, by-name list and homeless enumeration.
  • Other support as it relates to the design and creation of brochures, calendars, flyers, posters, etc.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree specializing in Human Service, Public Administration or Business
  • Candidates with non-traditional educational pathways and commensurate life/work experience will be considered
  • A minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience, ideally in the homelessness or housing stability serving sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience coordinating programs and working with groups in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with a diverse client group, and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to respond to requests in a professional manner
  • Understanding of mental illness and addictions
  • Understanding of harm-reduction, trauma informed practice and housing first philosophy
  • Data analysis collection and analysis an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Internet

Additional Notes:

  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for use in corporate business
  • The position requires a satisfactory Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen

Competitive Compensation:

  • $29.85 – $34.93 per hour; as per the 2024 non-union wage grid
  • May opt into an OMERS pension plan
