Newcomers & Housing in Huron-Perth:
A research project
Focus group discussions take place November 1-30, 2024
The Newcomer & Housing in Huron-Perth: A Research Project aims to explore the housing experiences of immigrants and newcomers to Canada who have moved to Huron or Perth counties.
The researchers hope to better understand the experiences newcomers in the Huron – Perth region go through to access housing or accommodation. A better understanding of newcomers’ experiences can deepen knowledge of immigrant needs, the ways immigrants get information, and what service gaps exist.
Through research, service providers and community organizations can develop actionable, contextually relevant responses for newcomers and their housing needs.
This study seeks to hear directly from 30 – 50 immigrants and newcomers to Canada about their experiences and struggles, as well as their thoughts on how housing contributes to feeling a sense of belonging in Huron-Perth region. Focus group discussions will take 75 minutes.
Eligible participants need to:
- Have lived in Canada for less than 5 years
- Be 18 years old or older
- Reside in Huron or Perth counties
