Art Walk and Talk
Available October, November and December 2013 only
Discover examples of contrast in the Museum. Explore texture, colour and line through examination of the Art Bank collection featuring local Huron County artists. Begin to express ideas and feelings about art through group and self reflection. Create a small piece of artwork showcasing how texture is created through a variety of line and shapes.

Busy as a Bee
You have arrived at your new homestead. Imagine trying to build a whole barn yourself - just you and your family. Imagine trying to make enough supplies to last the winter for your whole family - by yourself. Investigate the idea of the work bee and how it made everyone's life a little easier. Examine the tools and manpower needed for a barn building bee and get together with the neighbours for a quilting bee.

Join us with your class at the Huron County Museum to celebrate the holiday season! Investigate our seasonal exhibit, which is all about toys! Make your own Christmas decoration to take home and of course, enjoy our traditional snack of cider and cookies.

Explore all about the Great Storm of 1913. Learn the science behind predicting storms and reading weather maps. Make your own aneroid "dry" barometer to take back to class.

Investigate the people and places in a town 100 years ago. We will compare the past to the present. Discover the many stores that provided goods and services to the people in the town. Learn about life in the Victorian Era and shop for supplies on Main Street Huron.

Investigate the simple and compound machines that are the tools and artifacts that made life easier for people of the past. Keep score of all the simple machines that can be identified as we explore the variety of compound machines on display in the Huron County Museum.

Through a Child’s Eyes
Explore 19th century life through the eyes of a child. Learn what it was like at school and at home with work and play. Practice your penmanship on slate and graduate to nib pen & ink. Explore life at home and on the farm and experience a little fun along the way at the Huron County Museum.

Available September, October, May and June only
Discover life behind the stone walls at the Huron Historic Gaol. Follow early inmates from courtroom to cell and compare the life of prisoners with the life of their governor.
