Children's Programs

Days of Discovery

Wednesdays in July & August
9 AM to 4 PM | For children ages 5 to 10
COST: $20 per child per camp | Museum members $15 per child per camp
Pre-registration required. Limited space - 20 children per camp at the Museum, 15 children per camp at the Gaol. Children should bring a nut free lunch, sunscreen, hat and wear shoes (no flip flops).


Join us at the Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol in Goderich for summer Days of Discovery. Each day features a different theme and set of fun-filled, hands-on activities.

Fresh and Fun

July 10 | Huron County Museum
Wash your hands, put on an apron and make some simple, fresh recipes to take home and share. Learn about how your favourite foods are made and enjoy your lunch at a formally set table. Bring a copy of your favourite recipe to compile our own cookbook.

Mystery Detectives

July 24 | Huron Historic Gaol
Become a famous detective like Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew. Use your detective skills of disguise, observation, logic and deduction as you crack the case to solve the crime.

Think Green

July 31 | Huron County Museum
Do your part to conserve resources and care for the planet. Make crafts by reusing found objects. Learn about observing and protecting nature for others to enjoy. Please pack a Litterless Lunch.

County Fair Fun

August 14 | Huron County Museum
Learn about County Fair traditions in Huron County. Prepare your fair entries, judge and give out prizes and play midway games.

No Texts and Tweets

August 21 | Huron County Museum
Discover communication before the digital age! Try your hand at radio and television and explore historic technologies in Huron County. Read and send secret messages in other languages without typing.

Uncover the lore and legend of the Vikings! Experience the Vikings first hand by viewing artifacts and making crafts. Exhibit on loan to the Huron County Museum from The Manitoba Museum.

Uncover facts about both men's and women's leagues, uniform designs and safety equipment over time. Look at our many historical artifacts from the Museum collection.
